FOX NEWS SUSPENDS TRUMP SUPPORTING PUNDIT OVER EVERYDAY PHRASE CLAIMING RACISM – WAS THIS JUSTIFIED? IS THE PHRASE “OUT OF YOUR COTTON PICKING MIND’ RACIST?

Imagine being suspended from your job for using a phrase that has been around for years. I think it’s safe to say that most Americans have heard the phrase “cotton-picking” at some point in their lives. And I think it’s safe to say that most Americans never once thought about the term as being a “racist” phrase. However, one Fox News host was just suspended from his job for using it on air with a black guest.

Webster’s dictionary actually describes “cotton-picking” as an adjective such as “damned.” Apparently now it’s just another thing to add to the list of things that are not politically correct and cannot be said aloud in our country.

David Bossie was suspended from Fox News this week after using the phrase while on air with a black guest. The former campaign manager for Donald Trump found himself in a heated debate with Democrat strategist Joel Payne this past Sunday while on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends Weekend.”

Western Journal reports:

They were discussing the use of harsh rhetoric, such as Nazi comparisons, in the debate over the separation of illegal immigrant families at the border. Bossie brought up former CIA Director Michael Hayden’s ridiculous comparison of Trump’s immigration policy to the slaughter of millions in the Holocaust.

“That liberal Michael Hayden, that screaming liberal Michael Hayden,” Payne stated.

“You’re out of your cotton-picking mind,” Bossie replied.

“Cotton-picking mind? Brother, let me tell you something, I got some relatives who picked cotton and I’m not going to sit back and let you attack me on TV like that,” Payne shot back, clearly having taken offense.
“Attack you how? You’re out of your mind,” Bossie said

The show cut to go to a commercial break, but when the show got back, host Ed Henry issued an apology for what just happened. He stated, “I just want to address what happened in that debate, obviously got fiery, David Bossie used a phrase that clearly offended Joel Paine and offended many others. I don’t know what David meant by it. You know, what went back and forth between the two of them. I’ve known David a long time. I’ll let him address exactly what he said. But I want to make sure that Fox News and this show, myself, we don’t agree with that particular phrase. It was obviously offensive and these debates get fiery, that’s unfortunate. We like to have honest and spirited debates, but not phrases like that, obviously. And so I will just leave it at that.”

Bossie issued his own apology via Twitter after the show ended. He stated, “I should have chosen my words more carefully and never used the offensive phrase that I did.”

Bossie has been suspended for two weeks, as reported by the Daily Beast. The outlet cited “three sources familiar with the situation.”

All things considered, things could have been a lot worse for Bossie. It wasn’t too long ago that actress/comedienne Roseanne Barr was booted from ABC’s revival of the hit family sitcom, “Roseanne,” after tweeting a racist message about former Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett. At least Bossie will still have a job when his two week suspension is all said and done. It just goes to show you that these days, liberals will take offense to just about anything.
