NFL Star J.J. Watt Gives Entire Military Unit in Afghanistan a Christmas Gift They’ll Never Forget

Houston Texans defensive end and former Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt has offered to send an entire unit of soldiers pairs of his signature new shoes, which launched Friday morning.

His tweet teasing the shoe launch caught the attention of a soldier who said he was deployed in Afghanistan.

“I don’t think it’s on the normal distribution map, but I’ll make sure that we find a way to make it happen,” Watt responded. “DM me your size and the address.”

A Twitter user than jumped into the exchange and suggested Watt send shoes to the entire unit for free.

Watt liked that idea, and told the soldier to send him his entire unit’s sizes.

Twitter users echoed their appreciation for Watt’s generosity.

This is not the first time that Watt has shown his generosity and support for others.

After Hurricane Harvey tore threw Houston, Watt helped raise $37 million for the relief and recovery efforts, starting with his own donation of $100,000.

His J.J. Watt foundation has also raised over $1 million for after-school sports programs and encourages kids to “Dream Big, Work Hard.”
